Apple Pencil is not writing?

Hey, I just bought an Apple Pencil (1st gen) for my iPad (8th gen), and it pairs perfectly fine to it, and is fully charged, but it won’t write? I tried everything to get it work, but it’s still not writing? Could you help me, please?
