i just got a new mac air and I started a new apple id. my contacts are all synched but my messages dont work on the mac. ive tried to allow acess through my phone but the message only come through on my cell

Check your iMessages on the new MacBook are set to use iCloud. Open iMessage and in the menu bar select Messages, Preferences, iMessage (button at top). Set the checkmark for [Enable Messages in iCloud] then be very patient because it might take some time to sync.
