Must enter login password twice!

When I login, I put in my password and it jiggles as if I have input it incorrectly. I repeat the process and I login smoothly. Now, when I first bought the iMac, I put this down to my human error but it happens every day so it is now another iMac quirk or a 'security' measure.

This behaviour only happens when I login. When I signed into this forum, it all worked smoothly first time.

Thank you for your reply. Although the problem shared is not the problem solved, it is nice to know I am not alone. 🙂 I think this was an occasional issue when I had my first iMac in 2013 but, with my new iMac, bought a month ago, it happens every day.

I use Filevault on both machines. I am very careful when I insert the password so there is no question that I have the right one, inserted correctly. I works fine at the second time of asking but I have to clear and insert it all again. I cannot simply click the arrow a second time.

I've seemingly had this issue with some of our organization's Macs. I've never been able to figure it out either. Since I am never sure which password a give Mac is using I start with the most common ones and usually I will try them a couple of times before moving onto older passwords. Then I start with the most current password again which will now work. Or sometimes it takes a co-worker to type in the same password I had used multiple times. I've even paid very close attention to the Caps Lock key and making sure I'm not mis-typing the password. Our Macs are using Filevault so I'm not sure if it could be an issue with Filevault recognizing the password.
