Orange dot (microphone indicator)

Immediately after unlocking my phone while the Home Screen begins to appear the microphone indicator shows active and then immediately disappears, leaving me to believe that while inactive and asleep the indicator is on and the microphone is in use. Or that it’s a design flaw and the phone is always recording and listening. My phone has always had Siri disabled with very few apps on it. Does anyone have an idea of what the cause could be? My concern is that it’s $pyw@re
