typing lags in imessage

When I open a message string, and want to type a reply, I start typing, but no letters show up. Then after a lag, BOOM, the letters I typed fill the message box.

This happened on my iPhone X, AND IS NOW happening on my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Can't delete text message on iPhone XR, iOS 16.0.2 Iphone XR iOS 16.0.2 I have one SMS in my messages that I cannot delete. I press hard on it, then press "delete" and the SMS pops back in the list. I can delete other messages, but this single one stays. I have restarted my iPhone, nothing changes. Anybody else experiences this?
