Gift card says not valid; starts with Y and not X

I have two unused gift cards that both have 16 letter codes that start with Y. When I went to the App Store to redeem them, it says code not valid, and when I looked it up it said to make sure the codes start with X. How do I go about redeeming these cards?

Gift Card is not Valid?! I Bought a Gift Card with cash at a grocery store. I sent a picture of the card to my sister (I bought it for her.) She sent me a text a little while later and said Cannot Redeem Code The code entered is not valid. Is there any way to rectify this situation?

Enter the PIN number manually wit CAPITAL LETTERS
