Issue with Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro (M1 mac and Big Sur)

Hi,

I’ve got a new MacBook Pro (the one with the M1 chip). And this docking station:

Which according to the official documentation on the website should be compatible. The monitor is not working though. I’m connected through a DisplayPort to HDMI cable, have tried also DisplayPort to DVI (multiple cables of both) without any luck.

I got signal for 3 seconds and then nothing, then signal again for a few seconds and nothing…and so on.

Any idea? I upgraded MacOS to the latest stable version (11.1), have tried 3 different monitors and at least 5 different cables. I also tried the docking station with a Windows laptop and it worked fine so it's something to do with the MacBook Pro (or Big Sur).

I'm very disappointed as I bought it because it said it was supported on Apple's website.

Thanks

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

Hello t4ggs,

It sounds like you're experiencing some issues getting an external display to work with your MacBook Pro. We will be happy to help.

Let's try the following steps to see if they help:

  • Unplug power to the display and all cables, wait one minute and plug it back in.
  • Some third-party adapters my require a third-party software. Can you make sure that there is no extra software that you may need?
  • Make sure the firmware of the display is up to date.
  • Make sure the input is set to the connection type on the display instead of Auto.

Please let us know if this helps, we are standing by for you.

Cheers!

  • Some third-party adapters my require a third-party software. Can you make sure that there is no extra software that you may need? [t4ggs] There isn't (at least there's nothing on Belkin's website).
  • Make sure the firmware of the display is up to date. [t4ggs] Nothing to update there.
  • Make sure the input is set to the connection type on the display instead of Auto. [t4ggs] It is
