While hiking without cell service, can a trusted friend see my location?

Hi there,

I have been wanting a device I can wear that will enable trusted loved ones to see my location in case of an emergency. I live in a part of the country with very little cell reception, so I am worried if there is an issue, I could not call for help. Is there a way, with an Apple Watch, for someone I trust to log in or otherwise track my location if there is a need for concern even without any cell reception?

You need Either WiFi service connecting to the Internet Or a cellular Apple Watch _AND_ cellular service strong enough for the Apple Watch to pick up (remember it is a small device with a small antenna, and needs a bit stronger signal than the iPhone).

But if there is no radio service, there is no way to send your GPS location information. Actually no way for your trusted loved ones to send a request to your iPhone or Apple Watch asking for it to return the GPS information.
