Imovie - insufficient storage to export imovie project from iPhone (ios)

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE THIS FOR MONTHS - I GIVE UP / NEED HELP!

I would like to move an imovie project (not the finished movie) from my iphone over to my mac mini so I can finish editing it. When I try to share the project I get the following error message:

"Insufficient Space - There is not enough space to share your project. About 3.2 GB space is needed, and about 1.3 GB is available." (picture of error message is included here)

It doesn't seem to matter where I try to export the file to (airdrop, save to files, onedrive, icloud) the error is the same. The message is implying that my phone doesn't have enough space. I have 64 GB available on my phone right now (see attached picture) so I can't understand why I'm receiving this error. Is there a cashe that is full so it's referring to temp space instead of permanent, like it doesn't have enough temp storage to box up this file and ship it off? I have never had another space shortage issue/notification on this phone in the months since this imovie error started. I have tried exporting smaller imovie projects over airdrop and they work... I'm hoping someone has an idea that might help me out so I can FINALLY finish my movie project on my mac.
