Can I use an external webcam with my mid 2010 MacBook Pro?

I want do use a and camera in a Zoom session with my mid 2010 MacBook Pro. I am doin some genealogy work remotely with my daughter in another state. I have a lot of old photos and I want to show them to my daughter so we can collaboratively select the ones to include in a book about our family. Having a camera that can be moved around would be a huge advantage.
