I have an iphone 12 max. Often when i lock my screen while i am listening to music, the volume instantly goes to max. Its happened several times and sometimes hurts my ears when im using airpods.

I can’t edit the original post so I’ll write what I found out here: Lock the screen and immediately press and hold either the volume up or down button for a short time (less than a sec). This is not normal behavior. The volume shouldn’t continue to rise or fall after letting go of either buttons. By the way, I also turned off the Double-Click side button to turn on Apple Pay, if that makes a difference. Anyone has found something regarding this?

Ipad volume increases to max by self I recently received a refurbished ipad mini 5. The volume continually goes up to maximum while I’m using it. I turned off bluetooth and Sound Check as suggested, but it did not help. I’ve also done a hard restart. I have the latest update installed as well, but since I updated when I received the ipad, I don’t know if the update caused the issue.

Volume changes to max on its own I have an iPad 4, had it for a number of years and never had any issues, until today. My daughter was watching YT Kids app with headphones and the volume suddenly raised to max without her having touched any of the buttons or onscreen controls. My partner and I tested it and it repeated this with us also. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I do not have any extended coverage, a brief google search suggests it may be a hardware issue but I suspect we would be charged the full £200+ fees to repair an issue we didn't create. I also can't download the Apple Support app as my iPad will only update the software to 10.3.3 and the app needs minimum of 13.1

Hey Lewis-ng9,

Looking over your post, we see that the volume unexpectedly adjusts when you lock your screen.

To aid us in isolating this, can you let us know the following?

Does this only happen with music, and if so are you using the Apple Music app or a third-party one?
Does the volume indicator go to full as well when the volume gets louder?
If the iPhone is in a case, take it out of the case and try testing the issue. Does it persist?

Let us know and we'll continue from there.

I use spotify to listen to music, and i have tried using listening to music without the case.

The moment the screen locks the music volume goes to max instantly and i dont understand why.

I havent dropped the phone at all or cause any form of damage.
