Loop booting and red screen Ipad Air 1

Hi all i'm looking for some help / advise.

My mother has given me an Apple Ipad Air 1 which she could not use anymore.

What is the situation:

  • When on an original charger the Ipad starts up and is looping - showing Apple Logo and with a few seconds also a red screen and then restarts and it keeps on doing this.
  • I tried the option to get the ipad in DFU, this works when i press the top on/off button and home for at least 15 seconds.

Unfortunate when i unplug the cable from the charger (even after two hours on the DFU screen) the ipad shut down. I also tried to connect the cable to the Macbook for a few hours but the Ipad is not starting-up via this way.

Any idea what this could be and if it is something that could be solved?

Hey there voorhammr,

We'd like to help get your back to enjoying your iPad.

It does seem you've tried all the steps we'd normally recommend for an iPad restarting itself repeatedly, including restoring by recovery mode.

We did want to offer one more step to try, and that is testing what occurs when restoring on a different computer, if possible.
