Fitness Plus keeps pausing and disconnecting
I have now experienced Apple fitness plus disconnecting/pausing/stopping a workout in the middle. I am only about 4 feet from my Apple TV. What can I be doing wrong?

Hi, with the 14.5 issue and a full reset (unpaired, set up as a new watch, not from backup) of my Apple Watch, the issue is now gone for me. I set up my Apple Watch as a new watch and I deleted the old watch pairing from the Apple TV (https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/watch/apd619078d99/watchos). I’ve been able to complete a few workouts now using my AirPods without issue.
There was also an AirPods firmware update with the latest batch of updates, make sure you put them in your case, then plug in your case to a power cable and bring it close to your phone (https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/update-airpods).
Hope this helps.
I believe Apple Fitness is the problem. I regularly run with my Apple Watch, iPhone and AirPods. While running my arm is typically covered with a jacket, yet everything stays connected (1 to 2 hours). However, if I’m 12 inches away from my phone doing Yoga in a tank top with no air prods or Apple TV ... Apple Fitness cannot stay connected for 5 minutes and constantly drops. It’s interesting too how it always stops at 5 minutes or 3 minutes. It’s always rounded, like it’s on a timer.
My money is on Apple TV struggling to manage more than one Bluetooth connection. Apple is aware of the issue and likely trying to figure out how to manage multiple connections.
Just my observation.
I’m having this issue just when I’m playing the videos over my iPhone. No Apple TV. No AirPods. No other Bluetooth connections. The time on the workout continues but the audio and video stop so the coaching and benefits of the workout are gone.
could not agree more that you need to be able to fast forward to your spot in the workout! Each time I’ve had this issue I had less than 10min left of a 30min workout.
This issue is very frustrating! I've been able to get through 2 complete workouts without the app crashing and is definitely frustrating that you can't start from where it errored out. I hope this get fixed soon.
I purchased a new watch which came with the Fitness App. I will be discontinuing any subscription because every time I go for a run or walk the video stops after about 15 seconds. Even more frustrating is that either it or the watch then does the same when I just play my music! So irritating.
I don't believe it's a connectivity issue. I downloaded the entire workout to my iPad locally and still had multiple pauses like it had lost connection to the network, but it wasn't being streamed anymore.
Having the same problem. Really frustrating because when it works I think Fitness+ is brilliant.
this happens with no other services using WiFi and always seems to happen at around 15-20 mins into a workout. The inability to rewind and fast forward makes this even more annoying.
the only thing I can think could be causing it is that my daughter also uses an Apple Watch at the same time when we follow the workouts. Obviously only one of us is actually connected to the workout but could this be causing the problem?
Hi,
It happened to me today again, I talk to apple support 2 weeks ago they have no idea what was going on , opened a case and so far no response, the worst thing you have to start again doesn’t same where you left, frustrado😒😒
Lots of comments about AirPods which is really interesting.
im not using any ear pieces though. I’m using an Apple TV so the problem is really frustrating.
I’m sure Apple are working on a fix but I’m still paying a monthly fee for something that is becoming unreliable. Yesterday fitness+ wouldn’t work at all.
I really want it to work because it’s fantastic!!!!
Same thing happens to me. Apple Watch connected to my Apple TV and sound coming through my Apple home pod. Never had any interference or connection issues within my home network and I’m only 3 feet from both Apple TV and HomePod.
All suggestions in this thread don’t stop it happening and to make matters worse I can’t resume the workout from the point it disconnected. It makes the whole workout app useless. Thank goodness it’s my trial month. I won’t be subscribing. Hey Apple, whatever happens to “It just works!”
I see that this is marked as solved, but I wanted to chime in, too.
This happens to me when I'm using my iPhone, with ZERO audio devices or AppleTV. Just my phone playing the video. Dies around the 15 minute mark and pretends it doesn't know what Apple Fitness is for a while. It shows "generic" workouts and the Fitness+ tab just spins as another poster showed with a screenshot. Eventually, it kicks back in, then "signs" me in (as I go from "Try it" to "Let's go" on the workout). I also say, LET ME FAST FORWARD, please.
This happened to me, today, 15 minutes into a 30 minute yoga session. There were NO AirPods or NO AppleTV involved, just my iPhone 6s. I haven't had this in a few months. I use this set up daily and it's just so random. Very annoying, but still so random.
This persists. It is an Apple Bug!!! Fix it!
Thanks for telling me. How on earth did Apple not test for this? I was so cross and disappointed. Such a shame that something that looks so useful is useless.
Most likely the case.
