I replaced my M1 and it had the same issue! So I believe it is a hardware issue. Maybe a software update can make it less annoying, because I noticed that the image produced by the camera improved when running both FaceTime and Photo Booth side by side(Photo Booth was better)

My M1 MacBook Pro has been fine since the day I got it and the image and video quality from the camera is very clear. Not sure what software issue could be done to fix this as mine is already very clear.

I got the replacement and it looked good when I started it up for the first time and what I expected for this 720p camera, but I noticed after the first update. It went to the haze again. Got mad and brought it back to Apple. Why is there a 720p camera on these is beyond stupid.

There is a 720p camera because most people don't use their built-in cameras for anything that would need more than 720p. When you use Zoom or things like that, there really isn't a need to be any higher as it would really be useless data tied up in transmitting all that data. If you're planning on using it for things like YouTube and other higher quality video recordings, chances are you're going to want to use an external camera for better control of what you're recording anyway.

I realised the same issue on my newly bought M1 MacBook Pro too! The quality of the camera when viewing on Photo Booth and FaceTime is pretty blurry, it's like having a beauty filter put on! Besides, I also realised that there is a flickering issue with the camera. Hope to see Apple addressing the issue soon :( Also, any updates from anybody?

I have this same issue. At first I thought my camera was dirty, then I thought it was the Zoom platform, and finally I tried FaceTime. The camera quality is worse than a 20 year old webcam. At this moment, I've been on the phone with Apple Support for over 45 minutes only to be told that there are no Genius Bar appointments available. I'm very disappointed and expected better from Apple.

I am on my third unit and the camera is no better, but now on top of the camera issue I am having connectivity issues over the 5Ghz band :( The first two MBP did not have that issue, and nothing new at my place in terms of network infrastructure. iPhone and other devices connect fine with no issues.

apple what the heck?!

Same issue here on my 10 day old MBP 13" M1..

(Also a same they replaced the magnetic power connector with a normal plug, easy to break (USB C)..feels like going backwards in time.

And now with only the two USB C options, one need to have a bunch of external hubs and adapters hanging out from the laptop.

M1 might be fast but going to return mine and wait for at least the camera fix.)

Hello everyone

I’m facing same camera issue in Mac book pro M1 which i bought 15 -20 days ago.

its too weird that we are paying such a big amount and it return we are getting blurry camera which is also down from any local brand equipment. As you know during current situation we need good quality camera As we need to do multiple video meeting daily.

I think apple should replace item with brand new item or totally refund our amount.

Thanks
