NYTimes Junk Mail

I have been using OS 10.12 and recently upgraded to OS 11.1 On both of these, I had a strange problem with the Mail program. Any email that I received from the New York Times (nytdirect@nytimes.com) goes to Junk mail. I have repeated clicked "Not Junk" on those emails. I have also set up a new rule in Preferences > Rules that says that any mail from nytdirect@nytimes.com should go to my Inbox, and yet still, it makes no difference. All mail from nytdirect@nytimes.com goes to the Junk folder.

Why does this happen? How can a Rule be overridden like that? This has gone on for years and I would like to fix it.

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for reaching back out mpk-apple,

Did you have a chance to check for other mail rules that might be interfering? If you click on the sender's name/email do you see the 'Add to Contacts' option? If so, add the sender to your Contacts and test to see if that resolves the behavior.

When emails from known senders are marked as junk, moving the messages from Junk to your Inbox is the correct way to address this. After some time the machine learning process will recognize that the email should not be marked as Spam. More info on this can be found here: Identify and filter junk mail in iCloud. If the issue persists after that time, you can use the following link to get connected for further assistance: Contact Apple Support.

Take care!

Hi there mpk-apple,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand email from New York Times is going directly to the Junk folder. We’ll be happy to help.

Did it always do this or did it get marked as Junk at some point and now you’re unable to undo that? Have you checked to see if there are any other Mail Rules set up that might contradict what you set up for New York Times emails? If not, let’s start there: Use rules to manage emails you receive in Mail on Mac. Do you use more than one email account? If you opt-in for those emails with another account, does the same thing happen? After testing, you can unsubscribe.

Best regards.

I have already built a rule saying that any mail from nytdirect@nytimes.com should go to my Inbox, and yet still, it makes no difference. All mail from nytdirect@nytimes.com goes to the Junk folder.

I cannot get the email from the NYTimes sent to a different account because it is a paid subscription linked to that email address.
