My MacBook Air is only a few months old however suddenly I find that Touch ID isn't working to unlock my MacBook Air. I deleted one of my fingerprints and added two but to no avail. I checked my settings in Preferences and all options are checked. I believe there has been a recent update which I accepted. It appears to have stopped working after the update. How do I resolve this issue? Is there another update or is my MacBook Air defective?

The solution did not work. Something is wrong the MacBook. It had to be sent to the Repair Center. I bought it in August 2020 so it is under warranty and also Apple Care support.
I had to send in my MacBook to the repair center.
