wifi temporary turn off until tomorrow

apple folks,

Attached are images of what I don't get it. image 1 shows wifi turned off in settings. when I toggle it, does it turn off permanently? it should. image 2 shows a summary screen of features, brought up when swiping from the bot of phone, upwards. the wifi is turned on here. I never turned it on. so apparently it's automatic? on a timer? a setting I missed? some way of apple trying to know what I'm thinking? whatever it is, I'd like it off. image 3 shows the words I see what I hit the wifi button on this screen. apparently, doing this only shuts it off for one day? WHY? I want it off forever, until I turn it on again by hand. help anyone? thanks.

OK, so the relevant words in that article are:

You turn on Wi-Fi in Control Center.
You connect to a Wi-Fi network in Settings > Wi-Fi.
You walk or drive to a new location.
It's 5 AM local time.
You restart your device.

so, am I to assume that, based on what I want, it's impossible because when 5am rolls around the next day, this thing will turn on automatically? that's exactly what it looks like. and if that's true, obviously that's the annoyance I want stopped.
