Is it safe to use USB-C multiport hub adapters/docks with the M1 MacBooks? There appear to be several users who have dead MacBooks after plugging them in to these adapters/docks. Thank you!

Yes, there seems to be an issue with MacBook M1s and USB-C hubs with PD (power delivery). You can go to MacRumors Forums and search for a thread called "M1 MacBook Air won’t power on".
Mine died and is now in the shop awaiting for a new main board replacement.
I really hope that Apple acknowledges the issue and ensures it is resolved. I have a total of 3 MacBook Air M1s and it is really worrisome.

Most likely Apple knows by now... I wish they could come straight about this... Because I have 3 MacBook Air M1s and the situation is not nice.
What about the apple's own usb C hub?
Yeah I just did the same - plugged my 7-yr-old MacBook Air into a new RavPower PD, using a new Anker thunderbolt-to-USB C adapter. It is draining my MacBook instead of charging it!
Seem to have the same issues... I’m testing it now but not using PD. So far so good.

Apple should not blame 3rd party hubs, but admit that it is their fault.
Ugly_iOS7, I would really appreciate it if you could please share the outcome with us. I'm overseas and it is very inconvenient process if the MacBook Air breaks again.

I got the Satechi with 3 USB hubs. It runs hot. So far, nothing's fried, but it's risky. I agree with an earlier post, the problem is the lack of ports on the Air. Heads up, Apple!
So anyone have a list of safe hubs?
I doubt you can get that from anyone, not even Apple.
