I don't use Zoom either. Try disabling "Play user interface sound effects" in System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects.

Yes, I am having the same issue as well. I have my macbook set to do not disturb and notification banners are not appearing, but alert sounds are still ringing. Hopefully this can be addressed in an upcoming update?

It appears to be 3rd party apps--I first noticed this with Skype, but alert sounds from other messenger apps have also came up. It may be all apps, but I haven't bothered to investigate the problem intensively.

I see. They may have their own sound preferences. I don't use Skype so I can't say. Mail has its own notification separate from the notification setting, which can be turned off.

You can certainly turn off all alert sounds temporarily if you want. You can also just hit "Mute".

This does not help, and is simply advice on how to enact Do Not Disturb - if the users problem above is the same as mine, where you can not adjust the 'to' option to anything other than midnight, then this is indeed a Big Sur issue as it does not occur on the previous OSX (confirmed through other system config).

Be great to get a bug fix for this—these beeps and such wake my child up all the time if I don't forget to shut it off!!

FWIW, it seems to be a problem local to your Mac. It is not a Big Sur issue.

Seems like it should be up to us--there's no reason that I would be able switch on the mode and have all sounds off on an iPhone and iPad and not be able to do that on a Mac. Especially with BigSur supposedly being the first shift to a more iOS-like interface. Seems like more of an error--one that will hopefully be fixed.

Sure--I could just turn them off individually. But I still like to have the sound alerts, just wish they would turn off along with all other notifications when I switch to Do Not Disturb mode.

Yes well, that's up to the third-party vendors.

Not, for example, when I'm in a Zoom call. There's no single option for turning off all alarm sounds, either--I'd have to do so for every application on my computer.

Anyway, I was never looking for help to begin with, just chiming in to mention that I hope this issue will be solved eventually. Thanks though.
