CBS vs Apple TV 3rd Gen

Does anyone else have problems streaming CBS All Access on a 3rd Gen Apple TV (A1469)? It seems to drop audio about a minute before commercial breaks. I’ve tried multiple TVs and have the same problem. I’ve tried Ethernet and WiFi connections. I’ve verified internet is in excess of 200 down and 20 up. I’ve tried multiple Apple TV 3rd Gen devices. I’ve even tried airplaying from my iPhone XR to the Apple TV 3rd Gen and have many of the same issues. I’ve also noticed that I can’t choose which profile to use in the CBS app for this device. It seems like CBS refuses to acknowledge there’s a problem and therefore does not need to find a solution or attempt to help.

It sounds like you are experiencing audio dropouts with the CBS All Access app on your Apple TV. You’re in the right place, we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.


Please try turning off Dolby Digital under Settings > Audio & Video > Dolby Digital.

Adjust video and audio settings on Apple TV


If this works, we realize it is a work around, but you would need to reach out to CBS All Access for further assistance.
