My wife and I received a group text from a friend. I replied from my iPhone, but my wife’s iPhone showed my reply came from her, not me! How do I fix this?
That's why you're having issues. She needs her own Apple ID.

I say yes because I have been setting up her iPhone from the beginning. She’s now on her second one which is an 8. I’m also on my second one which is the new SE. She doesn’t have an Apple ID because I have to enter my password when she wants to buy credits for her slot games. Thank you for your reply, by the way!
