As stated, it was a 2011 MacBook Pro and this past summer
it was tested due to an extended power outage and it ran
for a good 4 hours tethered to my iPhone 11 Pro running
in full performance mode (no screen dimming, no processor
throttling). For a 9 year old laptop I thought that was pretty
darn good.

Not a problem.
My M1 MacBook Air is only unplugged when I take it somewhere.
I did the same thing from day one with my old 2011 13" MacBook Pro and it
never had any ill effect.
