My 2nd display is connected via HDMI and colours are washed out after installing Big Sur 11.1.
I am reading that with Catalina this was a problem if HDR was selected by default.
I cannot find the HDR option within Big Sur to de-select this, if this is the problem.
The display is working fine if plugged into a device running a previous version of OS X.
The display is a BENQ E2200HD from a few years ago.

It doesn't appear that monitor is HDR capable.
If you have a display that tells the Mac that it supports High Dynamic Range, and using a HDMI 2.x cable that indicates it passes HDR, then HDR will light up in the Displays panel, as it does on my M1 Mac mini, and my LG 32 inch 4K HDR Ultrafine display.
Though Apple does not support HDMI 2.1 yet, I am using a new Belkin Ultra High Speed 4K HDMI 2.1 cable that expressly shows HDR on the box. When I have this selected, even the LG display briefly shows a floating HDR acknowledgement box on screen.
I know the BenQ E2200HD does not support HDR but I'm trying to fix the washed out colour problem since installing Big Sur. Some Catalina support threads suggested HDR may be sometimes enabled by default. Has anyone else seen washed out display colour problems since upgrading to Big Sur? I know it's a Big Sur software problem as the display is working fine when connected to other devices. Thanks.
I am running two displays on the pre-M1 Mac Mini. A BenQ PD2700Q monitor via displayport which is working fine. A BenQ E2200HD via HDMI which has the washed out colour issues (it does not support displayport). It's not the HDMI cable as have tested that separately. It's not the HDMI port as the BenQ PD2700Q via HDMI is fine. I know the BenQ E2200HD is old, bought in 2009, but it was working fine as my second display before the Big Sur update.
Big Sur 11.1 on an Intel and M1 mac — no screen discoloration issues here.
