Mac won't adjust volume of AirPods (Mac Problem)

I am unable to change the volume at all when using my AirPods. I can only mute the AirPods. I have not had the problem with any other bluetooth device. I connected my AirPods to a different Mac and the volume was able to be adjusted. I have also connected a different set of AirPods to this MacBook Pro and the volume worked. I reset my AirPods. Adjusted the MiDi settings, sound settings, and updated my Mac. I am running macOS Big Sur on a 2015 MacBook Pro. Thanks for yalls help!

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.1

Hi cwhit20,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're unable to adjust the volume of your AirPods when they're connected to your Mac. We can definitely work with you to help isolate this behavior further.

Do you experience the same behavior if you create a new user account on your Mac?

To create a new user account, you can go to the Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.

Click the lock icon, then enter an administrator name and password.

Click the add button (+) below the list of users.

Complete the fields shown for an Administrator account, then click Create Account (or OK).

Once you’ve created the new account, go to the Apple menu  > Log Out, then log in with the new account and test the volume control.

We also want to be sure that the firmware of your AirPods are up to date as well. Do you have access to an iPhone? Which generation AirPods are you using?

We look forward to your reply.

Cheers!
