Mid-2012 MBPro connectivity with USB-C

I use a Mid-2012 MacBook Pro (macOS Catalina 10.15.7). It's strong and stable and I love it. I finally shut down my 2006 MacPro when I got this in 2019.

For Christmas, my father gave me a docking station. It's an iOGear with a ton of input ports, but it's a USB-C connector.

My MBP has two USB-A, Thunderbolt 2, fire and ether.

Does anyone have any creative ideas for getting these two devices together?

Thanks.

2012 MBP. No USB-C/TB3. That doesn't work with my 2012 MBP. Proactively, I used my wife's 2014 MBP, plugged monitors into TB2 and HDMI and lit both monitors on one Mac and expanded the desktop. The proliferation of devices for sale that claim that you can expand a Mac desktop with splitters and MSTs is aggravating. My solution? Buy my wife a new MacMini and take her old MBP for myself, giving her my 2012 MBP for portable use.

Hey there, BCSTarpon!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! That's an excellent question you have about what adapter to use with a USB-C input and your MacBook Pro. Check out this article About the Apple USB-C to USB Adapter:

"The Apple USB-C to USB Adapter connects a Mac that has a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) or USB-C port to a device that uses a USB-A cable."

We hope you find this information useful and have a terrific day!
