I opened my iPod classic case now need a way to keep it closed

I opened my iPod classic case to replace the battery, and it was a nightmare. Apple made it humanly impossible to open it without breaking it, unless you're a superhuman (Apple, you'll pay me for this).

Now, since I removed the metal trailing that keeps the battery and motherboard inside (it was necessary, otherwise it wouldn't close at all), I need a makeshift tool or some other way to close it. E.g, welding, special screws, clips, staples, etc..

However, I am not an expert at any of these things, so I decided to ask. What is the best way to close the case. I am attaching a picture here for you guys to analyze what it is.

Take it to a professional iPod repair centre to fix for you.

rule in life, never do something unless you're 100% confident.

A very quick search on eBay suggest you might be able to get a non-working classic for say £20 that you can use for parts. Better bargains may be available.

The metal clips inside the case were meant to stay in place as they perform an interference fit that holds everything together. You probably just needed to realign some of the tabs. I cannot really think of a recommended approach now. If you glue it together that might make any future servicing more complicated.

Buying a new one on eBay is not an option, however I found the metal body on eBay, thanks.

The battery issue is now apparently solved (it doesn't drain if it's off), now I need to improve the appearance of the device.

Is it possible to buy just the metal case that encloses the electronics of the iPod?

Please help.

Good. I've done about half a dozen battery swaps and headphone jack/hold switch repairs. The first one was the hardest. An extra hand and metal fingers would help. They're really not built to open up again.

Now I really can't be sure if the products advertised on eBay are the original casing replacement, I found one that seems to be, but it's for a different model (60Gb). I will continue searching, eBay seems to have it all.

I agree, Apple didn't make the iPod self-serviceable, which is such a pity.

ps - I was able to buy a new Lcd though, to replace the one with the damaged pixels.

But if I get a used one that I need to open, I doubt I will be able to open that nightmarish cover without damaging it.

I need one that comes ready to use.
