Mail app on MacBook not syncing with Mail app on iPhone

Hi,

My new MacBook Air is using MacOS Big Sur. My iPhone 11 is using iOS 14.3. When I send an email from my iCloud account using the Mail app on my iPhone, the sync between devices works fine. But when I send an email from the same account using the Mail app on my MacBook, it does not appear in the Sent folder on my iPhone. It also does not appear in my iCloud mail account online. (The Mail app on the iPhone and the online iCloud mail account are in sync.)

I've resorted to using Outlook to ensure all my mail is synced, but that really seems unnecessary. Does anyone have a clue why this is happening?
