AirPods keep disconnecting

So basically I got airpods for christmas and they worked fine for like the first day or two. But then they would keep disconnecting and would only connect for like 0.5 seconds. So I got a new pair of airpods and they’re doing the SAME thing. except now sometimes they will connect and then the music will just play from my phone and not come through my airpods...
