Screen time - when screen is off

Hello everyone.

my son has pointed out to me that whenever I allow time for an app I.e roblox, even with the screen off the counter doesn’t actually stop, so obviously using the time that has been allowed without actually ‘using’ it

example (which I’ve tested a few moments ago)

Request time from iPad on Roblox

Allow 15 mins

Turn off screen

(set alarm for 15 mins)

Return to ipad

Screen time is used when app has not been used.

So as far as I know, everything is set up as it should be, family sharing, app requests etc and also the iPad is up to date.

Is this a known glitch or am I really doing something wrong here?

thank you.

we have the same problem.

I have set my daughter 2 hours screen time for the weekend. If she spends 15 mins on something, closes the lid on her iPad and the screen therefore turned 'off', when she comes back all the time has still counted down.

maybe it's something in the settings of the iPad, as in the screen is going off but the apps are still active.

It makes the while system a bit useless really, because I then have to give her another hour or two, and then her screen time usage shows as 4 hours - In fact when we've closed the iPad for the evening the next day her usage can show as 16 hours!!
