Turbotax 2020 won't load

My iMAC is running on macOS High sierra 10.13.6 and I just purchased Turbotax 2020 and it won't open

because it appears I need at least 10.14. I have checked for updates on my iMAC, which is only 2 years old

and per there are not updates available. How can update??

iMac, macOS 10.12

The App Store Updates page only informs you of updates available for the OS you are running.

Installing a newer OS is called an upgrade.

Which OS you can upgrade to will be governed by which model and year your mac is.

Click on the  top left of your screen click on About This Mac to find out the year of your mac.

For Mojave or Catalina,

Open Safari and click on this link,

How to get old versions of macOS – Apple Support

Go to Check Compatibility to see if your mac qualifies for the OS upgrade you want.

Then go to the Download OS section and click on the OS you want to install.

If you want to or are able to install Big Sur, open Safari and click on the link below.

How to upgrade to macOS Big Sur - Apple Support

Before upgrading make a full back up of your Mac.

Check that third party apps you use have updates available for the new OS.

https://roaringapps.com

Check that your printers/ scanners etc have updated drivers and software available for the new OS.

Connect your mac to your router via cable rather than rely on WiFi.

Do not use your mac while it is downloading

and do not use any other devices that share the same internet connection.

If the App Store says ‘Open’ then it is detecting a previous download of the install app

go to the Applications folder locate Install macOS ******.app.

Move it to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Restart, click on the link again, the App Store should say ‘Get' or 'Download'.

If you are considering upgrading to Catalina or Big Sur be warned they do not support 32bit apps.

Your Mac is probably running 32bit apps and these will need to be updated to 64bit apps,

some updates may be free, some may be paid. Use this app to discover which apps you have

are 32bit, https://www.stclairsoft.com/Go64/ then contact the developers of the software to see

if they are providing 64bit updates or alternatives.

Turbo Tax installation

Hi

I did install TT Premier 2020 to my iMac running Big Sur 11.2.1 and apparently it is loaded

I worked from January till mid Feb 2021 and then nothing.

When I try to start it, the lead page of TT - 3 smiling faces- flashed by and that is it.

Apple did help me install it as well by creating a new User, where it did open but I could

not port over the File that I have on my normal folder which has all the ported over data

from 2019, etc.

There appears to be some conflict between the latest 11.2.1 and TT.

Any suggestions beside going to H&R tax software?

THanks

Don

So what solution do we have besides hoping the Apple or Intuit will fix the major problem with TT on IMacs for all users and taxpayers! It sounds like a 64 bit issue???

I tried HR but do not like their confusing instructions and policy of no refunds for their errors, or promises to fix the problems.

I will try to see if I Can get HR to work, but so far I disliked their installation process.

1st time ever posting.

I also was having TT2020 loading problems from CD. Did everything .... dragged to Applications, etc. Wouldn’t open. Trashed TT2020 and started over. Also saw probs people were having w/TT2019. I opened, updated as required, relaunched from launchpad ... all fine. Then saw TT2020 icon on Launchpad, opened and TT2020 opened fine. Will keep fingers X’d I can finish taxes....
