Unknown Bluetooth Devices

Why are unknown items showing up on my Bluetooth device list and asking to pair? I forget device and disconnect and they keep connecting? Are they using my data? I have changed router, user and passwords and they still show up

Hi Tiffanie,

A solution to your problem might be to reset your network settings. Do do this, go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind that this will remove any prior Wi-Fi networks that you have connected to, and will also remove all Bluetooth devices you have connected to. If the unknown devices are showing up under "Other Devices", they are not paired with your iPhone and are not using data.

  1. Headset - Is anyone in your house using a Bluetooth headset that either hasn't paired with anything yet or is somehow stuck in pairing mode? The name isn't very specific so I'm not able to conclude anything about that.
  2. Samsung 7 Series 55 - I've looked into this and it happens to be a Samsung Smart TV; these allow your iPhone to be used as a remote for them. I am not familiar with Samsung products, but if you navigate the settings for the TV you may be able to turn off bluetooth for the TV itself. This will block its connection to your phone.
  3. RT Micro 176 - This turns out to be another headset, but I could be wrong. Similar to the 1st device, you may have to search for a wireless headset that is not connected to anything or is trying to pair. If you are unsure, turn off the device, remove it from your iPhone, and see if it returns.

Did resetting your network settings fix your problem?

Confirmed:

I see it their's all the time when my Mac is with me at my friend's apartment. So, it is the neighbor's item you are seeing.

Your Wi-Fi router doesn't affect your Bluetooth devices, so I don't think that is something you have to worry about. If resetting your network settings didn't work, try looking for any devices you've connected to when the issue first originated and shut them off.

Would you mind telling me the names of the devices that show up as long as there is no personal information attached to them?

Neighbor's Items:
With a strong device, it may be you neighbor's item. I don't know if you live in an apartment to not (don't provide the answer), but it may be your neighbor's devices (on the other side of the wall), with the signal being seen in the window. Like it or not, my friend sees his neighbor's TV, and they see his items.
