Final Cut Pro X Quitting unexpectedly within 10 seconds

Every time I open Final Cut, within 10 seconds it has ‘Quit Unexpectedly’ this happens every single time I try.

Has anyone else experienced this or know of any steps that I can take to prevent it happening?

I rely on it for work and can’t export finished videos or edit new ones, it’s driving me a ever so slightly completely mental haha!

Thank you in advance for any advice or help.

There could be many reasons for this happening. Maybe a corrupt Library/Project. Put the Library in the Trash but do not empty it.

See if FCP X can open and stay open.

If it can't, retrieve the Library and delete the preferences.

Hold down the  Cmd and Option keys as you launch  FCP X and this window will appear.

Click “Delete Preferences” and  FCP X will open in the default (as-new) mode with a new Library called “Untitled”.

You will have to navigate to any Library you were working on and reopen it.  Your project libraries by default are stored in your Movies folder unless you have specified somewhere different.

In addition to what Ian said: if deleting preferences does not fix it, please run Etrecheck and post its full report here.

Use the "additional text" button and paste the report into the text box.

What mac and OS? I could glean from the screenshot that FCP version is 10.5.1, but please don't post rotated images like that :-)

You don't need to use your phone to take a picture.

Press command-shift-4 and drag to make a screenshot. By default, it will be saved to your desktop.

I think you will have to work out a strategy.

Create a new Library and then retrieve the old one from the trash.

There may be just one clip causing the problem so you will have to find out by trial and error (elimination) what is causing it.

It may save time to re-edit the movie.....................it often takes much less time than you imagine as most of your decisions have already been made and are still in your memory.
