Replacement AirPod won’t connect

I received a replacement airpod because I recently lost one. When I put it in the case no matter what I do I can’t get the light to flag amber like it should. I don’t know if it is a firmware issue like my AirPods aren’t updated and the replacement is or if the replacement just doesn’t work. Please help

Set up your replacement AirPods or charging case


Try forcing a reset:

Reset your AirPods
