Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll within two weeks of enrollment. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require higher security.

Hopefully you are within your two weeks of enrollment if you really want to disable it.

I have an Apple 5 and when I tried to get a new app my phone started asking me to add two factor authentication. I h ave tried unsuccessfully and only get so far and it just starts saying connecting with the circle but it just stays there.

How can I make it stop trying to get two factor authentication until I get a new phone?

Most Apple logins I have used lately all prompt for you to enable 2 Factor Authentication. It appears to be the new 'normal'.
