My Phone Screen Cracked. Can I recover the photos, if not on Icloud?

If my iPhone 7 screen cracked. I can no longer interact with the screen because it is mostly black. I tried connecting it to my computer but it appears that I need to be able to unlock it first to allow the computer to recognize it, but since most of the screen is black I can not type in the code. Is it possible to get the photos off of the phone if they are not in iCloud? Would fixing the screen resolve the issue? Or are there cheaper alternatives?

Thanks.

iPhone 7, iOS 14

If they are not in iCloud, the only other place you would be able to retrieve them would be from a recent back-up to another device or computer. I assume you have no such back-up. You are learning the hard way the importance of making a back-up BEFORE catastrophe strikes. After is too late.
