iCloud Backup

I clicked on back up now and it's been backing up for 4 hours and it says "2 hours remaining". I just recently purchased the 50GB of space in order to back up my pictures. I kept the phone plugged in and closed as instructed. I'd like to know if there's a problem with my storage or if it'll eventually back up my pictures.
