How to access single photo to upload

When I am on my MacBook Pro and go to a website and try to upload a single photo from Photos, I cannot. I only have the option from Pictures, to upload the entire iPhoto library (old) and Photos (new) is grayed out so will not open. I can use my iPhone to choose a single or many photo to attach. However, I cannot use my phone to upload photos to some websites. (ie. LinkedIn).

How can I access Photos, have it open, and then select individual photos to upload? Thank you

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.0

My photos are in iCloud which is shared by my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro. I did not see "Media" as an option when trying to upload a photo. I only had "Pictures" in the long list. I just tried to attach an photo to an email and even though Media was "greyed out" I clicked on it and Photos appeared. Thank you for your replies!

There is one problem with the Media Browser. You may not be seeing your photos there, if the format is not JPEG. If your photos are synched from the iPhone to the Mac as HEIC files, they will be dimmed in the Media Browser, if the site does not accept HEIC. For example: Most of the images in the selected album are greyed out. They are all in the HEIC format . Some HEIC files are showing and can be uploaded, but only the versions, that have been externally edited and are having a second master file in the JPEG format.
