Early 2020 Macbook air trackpad lagging?

I got my early 2020 macbook air around october or november in 2020 and yesterday my mac was lagging and acting slow because there was alot of programs open and when i went to close them my trackpad wouldnt click so i tried to click it maybe 5-10 times and it just wouldnt click, about 5 to 10 seconds later it started clicking itself and basically spazzing out and it clicked itself the same about of times i tried to click it when my mac was lagging. any idea why this happened? my trackpad is still working fine and it hasn't happened again. im just confused as to why this happened.
