'Apply to enclosed items' no longer available on home folder?

I was going to ask this:

Has the 'Apply to enclosed items' option been blocked by Big Sur? It's greyed out now.

It used to be that you could fixed user permission by using that option.

... and then I saw https://eclecticlight.co/2020/02/18/repairing-permissions-in-your-home-folder-has-changed/ which seems to say this feature had been removed.

It recommended instead, re-installing macOS from Recovery mode, or, if that doesn’t help, performing a clean re-install.

This seems rather drastic in the circumstances. Does anyone know a less drastic way to fix user permissions?

As far as I can tell, it is not available in Big Sur.

I have no idea if the diskutil command does anything, but I have run it and it hasn't seemed to cause any problems.

diskutil resetUserPermissions / `id -u`

What permission problems are you having?

Yes, I used to use that UNIX command after selecting the 'Apply to enclosed items' option in Finder.

I'm not having problems now; I just happened to notice the feature had disappeared and wondered what was going on.

I have, in the past, use this successfully to speed up my Mac on several occasions.
