Siri "how many days until 2021"

Sigh…..once again…..

The question “How long until 2021?” is a silly illogical question. We’re a third of the way through it! Siri is giving the only possible halfway logical answer, which is how many days are left of 2021 - i.e. how many days are left before it won’t be 2021 anymore.

Get it?

Possibly because the only logical answer to that question would be to reply with the number of days until the end of 2021.

It’s telling you how many days until 31st December 2021. It tells you how many days left of the year. It doesn’t make sense why it answers the question this way but 🤷🏽‍♀️

If that’s what its telling you, its wrong. There are 325 days to December 31 2021. (“Hey Siri, how many days til the end of the year”)

The real issue here is if you ask a meaningless question you get a meaningless answer. There’s a principle in formal logic that if you start with a false premise all conclusions based on it are true.

Ask her how many days until the year 2021 begins/ends

Did you ask "how long until 2021" and did you do it at 12.21?

If you ask "how long" it will infer that it's a time of day question. If you ask "how many days" it will infer it is a calendar question. Just tested it out and that's precisely how it worked.

If you ask "how many days until 2021" now, it will give you the number of days left of 2021 (what other answer can it give to that question?). If you then ask "how many days to 2022" it adds a day to the previous answer. All working, all logical, all tested.

Siri knows the real world calendar...

Today is Jan 19 2021.

How many days until 2021? 346 days.

How many days until the end of 2021? 346 days.

Therefore asking Siri “how many days until 2021” is the same thing as asking siri “how many days until the end of 2021.”

So I asked Siri how long to Jan 1st 2021 and she said it was three months ago

But when I ask her how long till the year 2021 she says 267 days... the days are counting down till 2022. Either, it’s a glitch and she’s misunderstanding, or we are the ones Glitched...

I think that Siri is trying to tell us something that we don’t know.

Okay but then ask “how many days until 2022 and she’ll give the same answer or a day off

Its probably just saying when it ends, for example it is 295 days till 2021 is, and the next year starts in 296 days.

As of 4:59 January 30, 2021 Siri responds with 3 hours until 2021. I have been asking her every day, maybe several times a day ... it’s a different answer every time. Either hours before or days before.
