Both a new iMac last summer and today tried to load my Turbotax CD and could not find a slot into which to insert it. What the ****?! Did Apple forget to include it in version of iMac? What do I do now?

As already noted Apple hasn't included cd dvd drives on their computers for some years now. However you can get a very good external one from Best Buy for about $40. Or if you don't trust Best Buy you can get an Apple external superdrive for about double that price.

I've had the Best Buy one for several years now since I bought an iMac back in 2015. It's a usb model and it works perfectly. You just plug it into a usb socket on the back of your Mac, insert a disk and it works. No software necessary.
