cable feels tacky

Has anyone ever bought a genuine Apple Lightning cable that feels slightly 'tacky' on the white cord instead of very smooth? Purchased for $8.99 on Ebay from a seemingly established tech accessory seller. By all accounts, it seems to be an authentic product (verified against the article on Identifying counterfeit accessories) & the Copyright on the was-sealed retail box shows 2020. It's not super sticky like deteriorating plastic but definitely not smooth like my other Apple cables. Feels like the difference between rubber & smooth vinyl.

Tacky? Personally I have not. If it really bother you, go take advantage of their 14 day return policy and trade in for a new device.

Thanks for the reply & suggestion, StanleyG. Naw, it's not so sticky as to feel defective or that bothersome. Just more noticeable bc I have it next to another Lightning cable that feels normal. Had already wondered about it being counterfeit but everything in & out of the sealed retail box & how-to-tell-if-it's-counterfeit that I did already check out from the article seems super legit. Perhaps it was a temperature storage thing at some point. Thx agn.
