Can’t access app switcher

I’ve had this iphone 7 for a good two years or so now, and i’ve had no problems. It’s not been broken or repaired in any way, yet out of the blue, i can’t seem to be able to access the app switcher. I can still go to the home screen, touch id works fine and i can even get siri to work. But when i double tap, nothing happens. Not even assistive touch works.

Hi SpoobFurry,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! We're glad to help with this app switcher issue you're facing on your iPhone 7. Let's get it sorted out together.

Have you had an opportunity to restart your iPhone since noticing this behavior? If not, let's do so now. Here's a guide with the recommended steps for a standard restart:

Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists, let us know more about what's going on. Does your iPhone have a clicking feel when pressing the Home button? What's the iOS version you've got installed on your device? This can be found under Settings > General > About.

Let us know if the information in this guide helps:

If a button or switch isn't working on your iPhone or iPad

Have a great day!
