No Sound on Games unless Using Headphones

On multiple games, I can only get sound if I’m using my headphones. No matter what I do, I can’t get sound directly through the speakers. I can play music, watch videos, etc. with no issues. It’s only on games (multiple). I have an iPad Pro.

I’ve tried everything up to factory reset. I’ve turned Bluetooth on and off. I’ve slid the volume bar up and down on sound settings as suggested by another user.

I welcome any suggestions.

Hey there mlfurlow,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you do not hear sounds when playing games. We're happy to provide some assistance.

Since you were able to isolate this issue specifically to games, there might be some in-app sound settings for these games. If you're unsure if or where these settings might be, contact the app developer:

How to contact an app developer

If the in-app sound settings are correct, try uninstalling and re-installing these specific apps.

We hope this helps.

Have a great day!

Thanks so much for the reply, but I have tried all those things. There are in-app sound settings, and they are on (as evidenced by the fact the sound is fine when using headphones). I’ve also tried deleting and re-installing. I’ve even downloaded other games to test and same result. Sound is fine when I have my headphones on, but just using apps with no headphones is completely silent. Bumfuzzled!
