Image noise when viewing with Dolby Vision or HDR on
This is a tricky one to try and explain. So here goes.
i recently purchased a Philips OLED 65” 805 (2020) tv. I connected my 1st gen ATV 4K to it via a brand new high quality/speed low interference 4K HDMI lead. Both tv and ATV are connected to my router via gigabit Ethernet and get circa 50mbps down. I went through setting up the video config on the Apple TV, enable DV on, display SDR 4K, content matching on, frame rate matching on. All seemed well; however, I have noticed on multiple video apps such as Netflix, Disney plus and the Apple TV app itself, when playing back 4K DV or HDR content, I get awful picture noise on various content. In particular Starwars - The Rise of skywalker (picture attached) it’s much worse when playing via Disney plus than watching it via the purchased Apple TV store version. Hopefully the image shows the extent of the picture noise being seen on various scenes. I have tried to play around with content matching and switching both DV and HDR off, which does improve things a little, but does not remove the screen artefacts fully. I have (as a comparison) launched Netflix via the native TV app and played 4K DV content and have a flawless image with no issues or screen artefacts. This is also using the same settings on the TV.
not sure if anyone else has seen this issue and have a possible fix, any advice appreciated.
