Resting heart rate incorrrect

Hello,

I have an Apple watch series 2. In the health app under resting heart rate it says resting heart rate does not include rate while you’re asleep.

yet consistently my resting heart rate is 50-56 which is consistent to my lowest heartrate during sleep. Also when I go and look at the resting HR data it says it was recorded in time intervals when I was sleeping.

and it stays that way for the rest of the day, so it is not influenced by resting periods during the time I am awake.

it would be one thing if the watch was programmed to consider sleep rate as resting HR but it explicitly says it does not. Yet for me it does.

I also have a fitness band that does not make this mistake. I am very dissapointed as I have found no way to correct this time interval that my watch chooses to calculate resting HR.

i have also banned other apps from writing data to HR in health so as to not possibly interfere.

What am I missing?

thank you.

Hi Valentina,

It sounds like your Apple Watch isn’t providing the correct resting heart rate. We know how important having a working Apple Watch is for you, and you’re in the right place to find a resolution.

Here's a resource and steps that can help:

Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch

Specifically, use these steps:

• Step 5: Get the most accurate heart rate measurement

I have already read and did all that before posting here.

the issue seems to be from the simple fact that it is calculating resting heart rate based on sleeping heart rate despite it saying in the description (in health) that it does not take sleep heart rate into account.

Maybe it will sort itself out in time after wearing it for longer, maybe it learns how to better estimate resting heart rate like it does with steps and stuff.

I’ve only had it since the new year, si just about two weeks.

i am just confused as the fitbit band had no such struggles and i have been told that the apple watch is superior.

thanks anyway. I’ll wait more and see what happens. Maybe i’ll write an update here if anything changes.
