Iphone locked by techdata

Hi, i have exactly same issue as mentioned in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8262662

i used my iPhone SE for a while and when I gave it to my son, he reset it and getting stolen iphone screen at the start. Emailed to techdata with proof of purchase on ebay and I received below reply

Dear sir, madame

The iPhone will remain blocked as it is identified and reported as a stolen device and therefore our property. It should never have been sold to you.

We are very sorry that you became the victim of a fraudster and the inconvenience and financial loss it has caused. Unfortunately, that is the current situation. Our company policy dictates that we will under no circumstances release stolen devices. It is a conflict between seller and buyer in which we don’t take any responsibility. We can only advise to file a police complaint yourself or ask the seller for refund.

We are grateful if you can give us additional information that can help the police with the investigation

The phone was stolen/lost during transport with carrier TOF in 2017-11-24 and was blocked beginning of 2018.

We are always blocking stolen units that goes to the grey market. Our recommedation is that you always ask the seller for receipt if you buy from ebay or second hand.
