iOS 14.3 missing amber alerts and emergency notifications.

They’re missing. Amber alerts and other emergency notifications are gone. The option isn’t there. They just disappeared. Were they moved a different location and not under notifications any longer?

why would this deliberately be removed?

I’m running 14.3 on my iPhone 11 Pro. When I look in notifications and go to the bottom I see the government alerts. You may wanna try and reset all settings first. This will replace the background picture, have to set up Apple Pay and WiFi and Bluetooth. But data will stay there. If that doesn’t work, back up the phone and restore to factory settings using a computer. Set it up as new first. If they are there then put the back up back on the phone. If it’s missing after the back up then it’s a corrupted file in that back up.

Apple didn't remove it. It's not something Apple would selectively remove. It's certainly still on my iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max. But it's possible something happened in the update on your phone.

When you do an iOS update, it is advisable to Force Restart your phone immediately after downloading the update. Did you do that? If not and your signature is correct and you have an iPhone 11 do the following:

  • Press and quickly release the volume up button
  • Then press and quickly release the volume down button
  • Then press and KEEP HOLDING the side power button (keep holding past the swipe to power off) until you see the Apple Logo, then let go

See if the emergency alert options appear at the bottom of Settings > Notifications

Judging from the RBC Mobile app, you're in Canada.

WARN Act AMBER, Emergency and Public Safety alerts as denoted are United States carrier features.

Similar features should be available in Canada, but you will have to check with your carrier as they are enabled by your carrier.

They may not be available in some areas as some Governments do not allow you to shut them off, so there would be no setting to do so.

*In some countries, you may not be able to disable Government Alerts.

I recently updated my iPhone 7+ with iOS 10.3.2 to 14.3.

The first time I went to “notifications” settings, the government alert items normally found at the bottom of the list were missing.

I turned the phone off (upper right button then “slide to power off.” After about 30 seconds I turned the phone back on and went again to “notifications.” The three government alerts buttons are now there.

Try this first.

Which answers the question; since you aren't allowed to disable them there's no point in showing the sliders that would allow you to do so.

Indeed, third party site "iPhone in Canada" has a page devoted to this:

CRTC spokeswoman Patricia Valladao, told the Canadian Press “People cannot opt out of this,” adding, “There is a high importance that people — want it or not — receive these alerts.”

https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/carriers/emergency-cellphone-alerts-april-6-no-opt-out/

The CRTC states:

In Canada, all wireless service providers must participate in the National Public Alerting System. However, the CRTC does not regulate the companies that make mobile devices.

as well as:

Devices that are purchased outside of Canada or directly from the manufacturer may not meet Canadian alerting standards and guidelines.

So it's possible that an SE purchased in the US might show the sliders where a new phone purchased in Canada would not.
