Transferring SIM Cards

Can I replace the SIM in a new iPhone with the OLD after re setting the old to factory settings?

I'm doubtful and had heard that the iPhone 12 didn't use a SIM. Once I got the new 12 Pro-Max, I noticed the SIM removal tool, after I had transferred data and wiped the Old model 10. DOUGHHHH !

I also noticed that the new SIM card seems to be a different metal and not the GOLD one from my model 10 MAX.
