External monitor blue background?

Hello

I have a macbook pro early 2020

and just today, I bought a new adapter for HDMI

connected it to my external monitor, the background is blue

plain blue, it wont have the background I have in my laptop

although everything els is fine

why is that?


btw

I had another adapter before, but worked fine

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you are not seeing your Mac's wallpaper displayed on your external monitor when connected using the HDMI adapter, do we have that right? Do you have a Desktop wallpaper set up for your display background? You can set it by going to the Apple Menu (  ) > System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver. There you should get two windows and be able to select the background you want displayed on each screen including choosing the same background.


Change the desktop picture (background) on your Mac
